What’s It About?
Mini (Genelia) is a NRI from Kanneda (Canada). Her father Bhatti (Tinu Anand) wants to get her married to a rich household, while Mini is on a lookout of her Mr. Perfect who doesn’t quite love her for her green card and has a head above his shoulder. Viren (Riteish Deshmukh) is a rickshaw driver who saves every bit of his earning to turn into a businessman. Being swindled for all his savings, Viren in inebriated state goes to get even with Bhatti while Mini takes advantage of the moment and gets herself kidnapped by Viren. How the two eventually fall in love on their runaway journey is what follows through the rest of the plot.
Story Analysis
Being pitted against seasoned stars like Bipasha Basu and R Madhavan’s Jodi Breakers, the newly married couple
Riteish Deshmukh
and Genelia’s Tere Naal Love Gaya may not have created that much buzz among the cinegoers but the film surely comes as a pleasant surprise.
TNLHG boasts of being an enjoyable rom-com and it dignifiedly sticks to that. Filmmaker Mandeep Kumar who makes his debut with this refreshing affair actually showcases immense confidence in his very first offering. Right from the very first scene, Mandeep sets the mood just right. The entire small town feel is established brilliantly throughout the film.
One cannot call TNLHG a completely original or innovative plot, however the entire credit goes to the filmmaker for giving a very refreshing feel to a romantic comedy without boring you to death. The first half, reminiscent of Jab We Met, is breezy and enjoyable.
The second half does tread on predictability and the tripe melodramatic rona-dhona, the longing for the lover and the sad songs that follow. Nonetheless, the film still holds interest of the audience purely because of the affable couple’s acting.
Performances
The key part of the film is the characterization. Each and every character is well-defined and contributes to the film perfectly. The strongest factor for this film to work among the masses is the chemistry between Riteish and Genelia. The two have done an exceptionally brilliant job and look extremely cute onscreen. While Riteish gives a near perfect portrayal of a subdued and righteous man, Genelia on the other hand is ebullient at best.
The rest of the cast including the likes of Tinu Anand, Om Puri, Smita Jaykar, Chitrashi Rawat among others act well and brilliantly contribute to the film.

Music/Cinematography/Editing
Yet another mainstay of the film is its melodious music. Sachin-Jigar pack a soulful album with almost every track standing out. The song Piya O Piya deserves a special mention for the lilting music as well as the beautiful picturisation.
Cinematography too is praiseworthy. The small town regions are picturesque and have been beautifully projected on screen too.
Editing however could’ve been better. The film could easily have been reduced by 10 minutes to make for a delightful watch.
Our Verdict
Tere Naal Love Go Gaya makes for a refreshing love story with adequate amount of humour and delightful acting. A definite watch.
