STORY

The plot of this comedy revolves around the characters of Veer (Fardeen Khan) and Prem(Ajay Devgn), who are close friends. Veer is a talented singer but unfortunately does not have much money to fulfill his wishers comfortably.

To get his way with more money, Veer plans to ask for some money from his step brother Dharam(Sanjay Dutt), who is a big business man in London. Veer hides his single status from Dharam, and asks for more money to run his house efficiently, as he was happily- married.

Even Prem, who is a concept car expert and Veer’s friend, aids in this venture. Prem is married to Jhanvi (Bipasha Basu), while Veer is in love with Vidya(Mugdha Godse). Jhanvi takes ca re of Prem’s ancestral gymnasium and they are happy together.

In the meantime, the lure of easy money seems irresistible and Prem, Veer fall in a trap and incur heavy losses. Their trouble increases manifold as they become not only indebted, but Vidya’s father also starts hating Veer for his extraneous activities.

Dharam, who is a very conscientious person, decides to visit India without informing Veer. Dharam comes with the impression that Veer was happily married, and so, on seeing Bipasha Basu, takes her to be his wife, mistaking at the same time Vidya for Prem’s fiancée.

Time was so short that Veer and Prem could not think anything else and tried to juggle out things as they were being understood by Dharam for the time being. How far can they carry this juggling of leading ladies and what happens to Dharam, forms the rest of the story.


PERFORMANCE

Ajay Devgn, who plays the character of Prem in the film, has given a terrific performance in this comedy film. His comic timing is so perfect that it’s hard to believe that he had started with an action film like ‘Phool Aur Kaante’. The flick completely belongs to him and the audience will adore him as he has consciously played to gallery throughout.

Ajay Devgn’s acting shows that he has come far from his earlier comic outing in ‘Golmaal Returns’. A special mention must be made of his interaction with Sanjay Dutt in the film, which creates a laugh riot.

Sanjay Dutt, who plays the character of Dharam in the film, enacts his part well. In fact, the flick becomes interesting only after Sanjay Dutt’s track begins and he starts mistaking one for the wife of other.

Fardeen Khan, who plays the character of Veer, a professional singer and brother of Sanjay Dutt, looks somewhat stiff in his approach towards his work. He is almost at the same level as he was in Boney Kapoor’s super hit flick ‘No Entry’.

Bipasha Basu, who plays the part of Ajay Devgn’s wife Jhanvi, looks gorgeous and enacts her part with sincerity. Bips take the cake among female actors enacting roles in the film.

Mugdha Godse, who enacts the part of Fardeen Khan’s finance Vidya, does not get much scope to showcase her histrionic ability, as was the case in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’.

The direction of Rohit Shetty is superb and he firmly establishes himself as master of this genre of flicks. This flick is certainly an improvement upon his earlier flicks of Golmaal series. He has been ably aided by his writers Robin and Yunus in making this flick work. However, some more pace of the film in the second half would have made the flick more enjoyable.

The music by Pritam lacks quality to attract the audiences to theatres on its own. In fact, the songs only act as hindrance to the smooth flow of the flick. The cinematography by Dudley is at par, while dialogues are witty at places.


STARDUST VERDICT

Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt’s antics in the film gel well with the festive mood of Diwali and should get a decent opening at the theatres. Above average fare.
