Kareena Kapoor, the sizzling hot babe of bollywood who features in a backless image with beau Saif Ali Khan in the publicity posters of upcoming flick ‘Kurbaan’, has invited opposition from the activists of Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.




 The activists are opposing the said poster of the film which depicts the backless image of Kareena Kapoor in a beautiful position with Saif(the hero of the flick), while blood is oozing from his chest. The main objection of the Sena is that the backless image shown in posters is against the Hindu culture of the state, and hence should be immediately withdrawn.



Sources say that around hundred activists of the party tore the offensive posters of the film in Juhu, Marol and other areas of Andheri. They also threatened to intensify their agitation if not heeded and the said posters were not removed from the city. The film is being produced by Karan Johar(of Wake Up Sid fame) and directed by Rensil D’silva.

According to sources close to Sena, they received complaints from worried parents who said that their children were staring at the backless image of Kareena Kapoor, shown provocatively on the publicity posters of the flick. The parents also related their helplessness in the matter of preventing their wards when the posters were displayed at every nook and corner of the city.

The grapevine has it that some activists even tried to drape the half- naked pictures of Kareena Kapoor in an Indian sari to avoid their viewing by school- going children and other impressionable minds.

The problem with the filmmaker is that Kareena Kapoor’s backless pictures in the posters with a wounded Saif Ali Khan set the right tone for the flick, which is based on Islamic terrorism. It is this factor which is preventing the creative team of Karan Johar from removing the posters despite of street protests from the sena.

The buzz is that it is for this reason that Karan Johar, who had promptly apologized for the use of Bombay instead Mumbai in his earlier flick ‘Wake Up Sid’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen in the lead, has been maintaining a studied silence on the issue.

Another reason which has prevented Karan Johar from speaking his mind is the big budget of the flick. Sources say that as ‘Kurbaan’ is a mega- budget flick starring big stars like Kareena, Saif, Vivek Oberoi and Dia Mirza etc, Karan could not help, but go for the use of most attractive scene (in this case backless Kareena) to attract public attention towards the flick.

Whatever may be the reason behind Karan Johar keeping mum, but saner elements in the industry find the Hindu culture argument quite unconvincing in a country where  Khanjuraho statues depicting sexual mudras and Vatshyayan’s ‘Kamasutra’ exist. Even the bollywood has precedent in backless pictures—just recall Nargis Dutt’s backless images from one of legendary Raj Kapoor’s films.
