Shilpa Shetty, the gorgeous babe of bollywood who was dating London- based business tycoon for almost two years, tied the knot with him in Khandala, but in the absence of her maternal grandmother Vijayakka.




Sources from Shilpa Shetty’s home town Mangalore (same as Aishwarya Rai) say that while all other relatives of Shilpa Shetty were invited to attend the Khandala wedding, Vijayakka was ignored and did not receive any invitation from the family. Insiders reveal that not inviting her own grandmother for the lavish wedding ceremony could have been caused by the rumors that Shilpa’s relatives often misguided(they were fed with Shilpa talk?) the media persons who thronged to her Naani’s village for collecting extra and accurate information about the impending big event.



Sources say that perhaps Shetty family did not like this and chose to ignore her for the wedding held at Khandala. Even bollywood had not been invited (except Jacky and Vasu Bhagnani, Ronit and Rohit Roy) for the wedding in Khandala.

Shilpa Shetty’s wedding had all the trappings of a big bollywood event except for the presence of biggies from the tinsel town. For instance, Raj Kundra rode a chariot to reach the wedding venue at Kiran Bawa’s(Shilpa Shetty’s friend) place, where the marriage had been scheduled to take place at 6.30 p.m.

The choice of this Godhuli lagna at 6.30 pm was in accordance with advice given to Shilpa’s family from her astrologers. They had selected the Godhuli bela as it was the best for the couple under the circumstance. In any case, sources reveal that Shettys never do anything big without consulting their traditional astrologer; hence there was no other option but to go for this mahurat.

Shilpa Shetty wore a Tarun Tahiliani’s creation, which was a beautiful red and gold south Indian brocade sari, embellished all over with ruby and swarovski pearls. The bride looked stunningly beautiful in this especially created outfit by the ace designer.

Raj Kundra, the bridegroom, was no less in any way. He preferred designer outfit from Shantanu-Nikhil. In fact, Raj’s maroon and gold sherwani with a sword in hand was giving him a royal touch. His neckpiece, studded with precious stones, added glitter to the whole appearance.

Shamita Shetty, the younger sister of Shilpa Shetty, who quit the reality show ‘Bigg Boss 3’ in the middle to attend the wedding, was also seen glowing at the wedding. Shamita looked very excited and was seen welcoming the guests and members of Raj Kundra’s family personally.

It may be recalled that Shilpa Shetty had met Raj Kundra in London after winning the UK’s reality show ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in year 2007. At that time Raj was in the process of divorcing his first wife Kavita. Later they became business partners. This partnership developed into love and finally culminated in marriage.

Now, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra are scheduled to go for their honeymoon in Bahamas.
