Shilpa Shetty, the gorgeous babe of bollywood who tied the knot with London-based businessman Raj Kundra on Sunday wore an outfit which was strikingly similar to that worn by Aishwarya Rai on her wedding with Abhishek Bachchan, but did not allow a song number from Akshay Kumar’s ‘Dhadkan’ to play at her wedding.



 The industry is abuzz that Shilpa Shetty’s Tarun Tahiliani outfit comprising of a golden lehanga –saree (and kundan suitably going with it), was the same as Aishwarya Rai had chosen to wear for her wedding around two years back.



In fact, sources go to the extent of pointing out that even Shilpa’s jewellery and hair style were the result of inspiration from sizzling hot Aishwarya Rai. One of the reasons for this could be the fact that both of the actresses belong to same Bunt community of Mangaloreans in Karnataka.

However, the case was just opposite in the matter of Akshay Kumar, the ex-boyfriend of Shilpa Shetty. Not only Akshay Kumar was not invited but even his songs had been banned from the venue of the marriage. In fact, when the band, present at Kiran Bawa’s bungalow, started playing a number from Akki-Shlpa starrer ‘Dhadkan’, all hell broke loose.

Someone came running from inside the bungalow and ordered the band members to stop playing the ‘Dhadkan’ tune immediately. The band people were in a state of shock, taking it to be some mistake on their part while playing the instrument.

Initially, the band members were told to play some other dhun instead of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Dhadkan’, but later they were told to stop playing at all. In fact, they were strictly told to submit the list of songs they would be playing before going ahead.

This took a lot of time from Band people and they could again start playing their instruments only after two hours, from 5 pm. This time there was no Akshay Kumar-Shilpa Shetty duet or any other number from Akki’s flicks.

The grapevine has it that Shilpa Shetty and members of her family did not want any mention of Akshay Kumar or his relationship with her. Sources say that this was done in keeping with the sensibilities of Raj Kundra and his family members.

It may be recalled that Shilpa Shetty and Akshay Kumar were very close to each other and had even contemplated taking the relationship to its logical conclusion. But somehow, the relationship did not work out and Akshay married Twinkle Khanna (Rajesh Khanna-Dimple Kapadia’s daughter).

Before their breakup, Shilpa Shetty and Akshay Kumar had acted together in several of hit films like ‘Dhadkan’, ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anadi’ etc. However, of all of them ‘Dhadkan’ was a super romantic flick and showcased their acting skills in an efficient manner.
