Heard this?? Amitabh Bachchan, the Shehanshah of bollywood who is considered a legend in his own right, addresses Vidya Balan, who made her debut with ‘Parineeta’, as Ma on the sets of Balki’s upcoming flick.



 No, it is not only during the shooting of the flick and on the orders of the director, but in general on the sets of the flick Big B addresses Vidya Balan as Ma (perhaps to maintain and keep the continuity of acting as her son in the film??). However, Vidya Balan, who is not even half the age of Amitabh Bachchan, is not angry with him, but feels proud of the fact that she plays a mother to an icon like Big B.



In fact, Vidya Balan is said to have boasted to the unit members that she was not only proud of her son Auro, but was glad that he was a well-behaved one. The flick also features Abhishek Bachchan, who plays the character of Vidya’s husband in the flick.

 The film has Amitabh Bachchan playing the character of a progeria- infected child Auro of Vidya Balan and Abhishek Bachchan. Vidya Balan is a teacher in the flick, while Abhishek Bachchan enacts the part of a suave politician.

 Amitabh Bachchan might have completed forty years in filmdom enacting several roles but the ‘Paa’ credit list reads as ‘introducing Amitabh Bachchan’ with this film. The film claims to be a debut vehicle for the veteran bollywood actor.

When confronted with this question of Amitabh making his debut in a film after being forty years in bollywood, director Balki jumps to its defense. In fact, Balki feels that as Amitabh Bachchan has never played the character of a 13-year-old on the screen, ‘Paa’ is his debut flick.


Another unique feature of the flick is that son Abhishek Bachchan will be enacting the character of on- screen father to Amitabh Bachchan. It is these two factors of role reversal for father-son and a challenge of playing a thirteen year old boy that helped Balki in convincing Big B doing this flick.

On the part of Vidya Balan, too, it was a courageous decision to accept the role of mother of Big B at such a young age. Sources say that initially Vidya Balan was not fully convinced about doing the flick, but Balki persuaded the talented actress to take the assignment as challenge, and she accepted it.

The movie has been in the news for its innovative marketing strategies being drafted by none other than Aishwarya Rai. It is said that Ash wants to re-establish the home banner of Bachchans through this flick and for this reason has been working overtime to make the flick a success.

Even Amitabh had a meeting with Aamir Khan in this regard and there was buzz about promoting their big upcoming flicks –‘Paa’ and ‘3 Idiots’ together.
