STORY
The plot of the flick revolves around the life of a struggler Sameer (Shahid Kapur) who wants to make big in bollywood. Sameer has a lot of talent and passion but he finds it difficult to get a break in bollywood. However, Sameer has that essential attitude of never- say- die to succeed in the tinsel town, and hence is continuing with his strong will power.
To survive in the city, the young struggler Sameer also does not hesitate in doing odd jobs to earn some money. However, Sameer never allows his dream of making big in bollywood disappear from his thoughts and always keeps it as his ultimate goal in life.

In this hard struggle, Tina (Genelia D’souza), who is a choreographer, acts as a source of strength for Sameer. She is an independent minded modern girl but does not mind helping genuine persons like Sameer in times of disappointment and misery. Her exuberance in general keeps Sameer fresh and lively to go for another round of struggle.
What happens to Sameer’s bollywood dreams and to his relationship with Genelia is revealed in the later part of the flick.
PERFORMANCE
Shahid Kapur, the handsome hunk of bollywood who plays the part of Sam aka Sameer, comes out as confident and sincere in his approach. The ‘Kaminey’ star rocks in dance sequences. In fact, his dance sequences establish him as a master in this art. His moves infuse life in the whole atmosphere.
Shahid Kapur’s acting has a rare confidence and passion in his performance as if he were acting scenes straight out of his own life. There seems to be a biographical touch to whole struggle saga in the film, especially his spending night in a car and going to teach dancing to children, though he would have hated working with kids earlier.

Shahid Kapur going for auditions and saying to prospective producers ‘Hi, I am Sameer Behl and this is my number, Sir’ is so cute and familiar to strugglers in big, bad world of bollywood.
However, Shahid Kapur fails in his effort to make the audiences laugh. In fact, he seems to be hamming more than doing anything to tickle the funny bones of the aam janta. But after giving an altogether different performance in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’ earlier, Shahid certainly comes out as a sweet guy.
Genelia D’souza, the vivacious young cute thing of ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaaane Na’ fame who plays the part of Tina in the film, totally justifies her selection for the character. She looks perfectly in sync with Shahid Kapur’s character in the film and creates adorable moments.

Parikshit Sahni, who plays the character of Shahid Kapur’s father in the film, comes out good in his role. However, he seems to have been typecast in a worried father role and audiences’ quest of something new remains unfulfilled. Others extend able support to the main cast of the film.
The direction of Ken Ghosh is average. Though he has treated the dance sequences of Shahid Kapoor superbly but you can not find the brilliance of ‘Ishq Vishq’ here, if you want that from the talented director. In fact, lack of emotional sequences in the film may prove to be one of his undoing. However, the blame should also go to poor script which runs out of steam in the second half.

The musical scores of the flick from Pritam, Adnan Sami, Sandeep Shirodkar are certainly not as likable as they should be in a film like this. Only one track ‘Pump it up’ is worth mentioning, which is likely to be popular with the audiences. Other production values are average.
STARDUST VERDICT
The film showcases the superb dancing talent of Shahid Kapur, but second half is a downer. Genelia is cute, but it’s not enough to carry the film on her frail shoulders. Even music (considering that it is a dance based flick) is mediocre and is unlikely to help the film at box office. An average fare
