Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori starrer flick Rakesh Roshan’s ‘Kites’ is due for release in May but there seems to be a war going on between director Anurag Basu and producer of the film.




So much so that all the publicity material of the flick shuns  the name of Anurag Basu from display and this despite of the fact that Basu is not only a  reputed director in his own right(after ‘Gangster’ and ‘Life In a Metro’) but was roped in by Hrithik Roshan’s father for the task. Sources say that initially director Anurag Basu and Rakesh Roshan had differences with the way the film should be shot, but later it extended to the editing of the film.




Rakesh Roshan did not trust Anurag Basu with the task and roped in reputed filmmaker Brett Ratner from Hollywood to edit the international version of the flick. The estrangement between the Anurag Basu and Rakesh Roshan can be gauged from the fact that the director even does not know the release date of the flick, and when asked, feigns his ignorance saying that it should be released either on May 14 or 21, much like a lay man making guess about things.

However, now when the flick is ready for release in May, Anurag Basu is trying to downplay his differences with the producer of the film and says that he would have walked out of the flick if there were anything like that.

But sources close to production house say that while Rakesh Roshan wanted to keep the hot erotic scenes between Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori in the film, but Anurag Basu felt otherwise. Even the matter was disputed as Rakesh wanted to make these scenes its trump card at the box office, but Anurag was not agreeable to that and wanted to edit them out. This explains the coming of Ratner from Hollywood for editing the film.

It may be recalled that it’s the same flick ‘Kites’, which had caused a discard in the marital life of Hrithik Roshan and Suzanne Khan. In fact, the hot scenes between Barbara Mori and Hrithik Roshan had caused some heart burning on the part of wife Suzanne Khan and she even left Hrithik’s house.

The matter had become further complicated after Suzanne learnt that  Hrithik Roshan was not only deeply interested in Barbara Mori’s acting career in bollywood but also has been taking active interest in her (Barbara’s) brother career in bollywood. In fact, Hrithik was instrumental in getting him some work in bollywood and this incensed Suzanne to no end.
