STORY

 

The plot of the film revolves around the sport of kickboxing as well as relationship between two brothers. Sushant Singh and Kelly Dorje play the sports persons who want to represent India. However, the selection process is being tempered with by minister K Jeeva as against the wishes of coach Farooque Shaikh.

 

After the selection of team, Dhirendra Sinngh(Sushant Singh) faces Noor Mohammad(Mukesh Rishi) from Pakistan in the match at Kuala Lumpur. However, an expected event forces the cancellation.

 

India and Pakistan again meet in Lahore, Pakistan, for their kickboxing match. But this time Dhirendra’s brother Virendra is facing Noor Mohammad of Pakistan. Virendra wants to take revenge and not only win against Pakistan in a kickboxing match. What happens after that is revealed in the rest of the film.

PERFORMANCE

 

Farooque Shaikh, the veteran bollywood actor who enacts the part of coach in the film, has come out with one of his best performances. Aanaahad, who plays the character of Virendra Singh(Sushant Singh’s brother), has come out with a very good act and will go far in his bollywood career.

 

Sushant Singh, who plays the part of sports person wanting to be selected to represent India in kickboxing, is natural and comes out very well. Mukesh Rishi, who essays the part of Noor Mohammad (Pakistani player) expresses himself efficiently through his facial expressions.

 

Shraddha Das, who has enacted the character of a Pakistani girl, looks every inch the character and this certainly goes in favor of her acting skill. Similarly, Shraddha Nigam, Saurabh Shukla, Ashish Vidyarthi, K Jeeva, Kelly Dorje etc enacted their part well. However, Nirmal Pandey does not have to do much. Others have provided able support to main cast of the film.

 

The direction of Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan shows spark of making of a genius. In his first attempt at directing such a film, Sanjay has made his intentions clear that he wants to be counted among the good storytellers of B-town. Tony Leung Siu Hung has directed action sequences superbly.

 

MM Kreem’s music is functional. Neelabh Kaul’s cinematography is top notch. Other production values are good in the film.

 

STARDUST VERDICT

 

‘Lahore’ is a well made film by the debutant director and it deserves a dekko at the theatres. Unfortunately, Pakistan has already banned the film, but hopefully that should not affect its commercial viability. A good film.
